AlphaTauri show off livery for 2023 AT04 in New York
AlphaTauri have become the latest F1 team to show off the livery that will sport the yet-to-be-presented AT04 challenger with the Faenza-based outfit launching their new season during a special event in New York.
Similar to Red Bull, the Austrian company's junior team opted to travel to New York to show off their 2023 car livery. While the Milton Keynes-based outfit chose the Big Apple because of its American title sponsor Oracle and its future engine partner Ford, AlphaTauri selected the American city to reveal not only the color scheme of its 2023 car for the upcoming season, but also to be able to present AlphaTauri’s 2023 Autumn/Winter collection during New York Fashion Week.
The Faenza-based squad have predominantly stuck with their blue and white color scheme, albeit featuring an additional touch of red from new principal partner Orlen which moved across from rivals Alfa Romeo.
Before travelling to the only official test that takes place at the Bahrain International Circuit from February 23-25, the new AT04 will be given a shakedown as part of a filming day at Misano on Tuesday.
Team Principal Franz Tost commented: “As we know, Formula 1 has seen a huge increase in popularity due to the likes of Netflix and social media over the last few years.
"So, it’s extremely important that we continue to grow in this market, which is why I’m pleased we were able to launch our 2023 livery here today in New York City to show our appreciation to the US audience. Likewise, I think it’s great that AlphaTauri could display their new collection at the event, as this year is the first time they’ll sell their clothing here in America," he concluded.
Japanese racer Yuki Tsunoda keeps his place at the team for a third successive season, with Dutch driver Nyck de Vries arriving in place of Pierre Gasly after the Frenchman decided to leave the Italian team and join Alpine instead. Although de Vries is preparing for his debut season, he has already completed an F1 race after standing in for Alexander Albon at last year’s Italian Grand Prix.
Speaking ahead of his third season in F1, Tsunoda added: “I’ve had a lot of fun this week in New York City and it’s also been great to attend the event here today, it’s such a cool backdrop for both the fashion collection and our new 2023 livery. The classic Scuderia AlphaTauri colours look great next to the new clothes and I can’t wait to try both out this season!”
Preparing for his debut season at the pinnacle of motorsport, Nyck de Vries said: “I’ve loved attending my first event as a Scuderia AlphaTauri driver, the opportunity to represent the brand at New York Fashion Week has been extremely special for me, and really showed me what the brand is about. The livery looks great, and you can see how the sleek A/W collection has inspired it, so I can’t wait to see it on track.”
“Entering the US market is another step in our expansion”, said Ahmet Mercan, AlphaTauri CEO. “Our goal is to make AlphaTauri better known and we are convinced that the consistent expansion of our sales network will make an important contribution to this.”
