JPM criticizes Kimi's strategy

McLaren Mercedes driver Juan Pablo Montoya has criticized team mate Kimi Raikkonen and McLaren. The Colombian has questioned the tactic of Raikkonen to wait until the very last lap of the Australian Grand Prix to clock the fastest lap of the race.

Monty wasn't able to finish the GP at Albert Park as his car stopped after hitting the same bump that ended Schumi's race.

Juan Pablo Montoya "It was Kimi being heroic on the last lap and putting the fastest lap in, because it was half a second quicker than any other lap he did in the race. So he was either slow or thinking about something else other than driving except on the last lap.”

Montoya doesn’t know what Kimi wanted to prove, apart from maybe putting the cart in the wall on the last lap, because he couldn’t have broken the track record of Schumacher, or taken first place from Alonso.

“If you think about it, how do you go half a second quicker on the last lap? What do you gain out of it? It is not going to be a circuit record because the circuit record is 1m24s for Michael, so what are you risking? Going off on the last corner? I don't know."

Montoya also questioned the tactics of the team as he was in line after Raikkonen in the pits and the team changed Kimi's nose. "I was shocked that they changed Raikkonen's nose. We came into the pits at the same time and could have finished both on the podium."

After this, it appears that Montoya will absolutely leave the team after this season.
