Barcelona to stage fan festival and road show ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix

Ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, Barcelona kicked off a week of racing with the inaugural fan festival that has been set up in the heart of the Catalan city.

Following the wild and wet race of Montreal, the Spanish Grand Prix is set to take place this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The hosting city, Barcelona offers a unique experience with its inaugural Fan Festival that was opened last Saturday and will stay in the city untul 22 June.

The Fan Village has been set up in Plaça Catalunya, and will will offer a host of F1-themed games and activities, world-class entertainment, concerts, and special guest appearances. The event is free, but fans will need to register for a free ticket which they can complete on the official website of the Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya.

The F1 Barcelona Fan Village will be open from 12 noon to 9 pm weekdays and 11 am to 9 pm on the weekend. The Village will be a hub for all things F1, with a host of activities for visitors, including:

  • F1 Sim Racing Simulators
  • Fun games including F1 Blast Lane, a wind-tunnel inspired game
  • Batak Reflex Challenge
  • The F1 Driver Selfie area, where fans can take a photo with their favourite driver through augmented reality
  • Official Heineken Simulator and Podium
  • Pitstop challenges
  • Scalextric track
  • Kids Zone
  • Food and merchandise stalls

    Moreover, fans will be able to experience F1 history through memorabilia. Hometown hero Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin show car will be on display for fans, along with other pieces of memorabilia including, a real Red Bull single-seater, an Alpine team helmet and a Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya show car with a special livery. Fans will also be able to take a photo with the official trophy before it is presented to the winner of Sunday’s Grand Prix.

    Performances will take place on the Fan Village stage daily from 4pm with artists including Txarly Brown DJ, Mon DJ, Els Amics de les Arts, Hotel Cochambre, Magic Pol and Robert de Palma Dj and others set to appear.

    Moreover, Barcelona will host a Formula 1 road show on June 19 on Passeig de Gràcia boulevard, going from Plaça de Catalunya square to Aragó street, just in front of Antoni Gaudí’s Casa Batlló.
