Sainz and Ferrari complete road show in the heart of Barcelona
Ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand prix, Formula 1 has taken over Barcelona city center with a road show on the iconic Passeig de Gràcia boulevard.
Just days before the Spanish Grand Prix, Barcelona hosted a Formula 1 road show today on Passeig de Gràcia boulevard, going from Plaça de Catalunya square to Aragó street, just in front of Antoni Gaudí’s Casa Batlló.
Around 30,000 fans flooded the streets to experience the unique road show. Ferrari's Madrid-born driver was the star of the show as he piloted a Ferrari F1 car on the narrow streets of the city center.
There were other drivers joining Sainz in the event. Alpine reserve driver Jack Doohan, Pepe Martí, from Formula 2's Campos Racing team and Mari Boya, racing on Formula 3 for the same team as Martí were also taking laps around the Catalan capital.
Former F1 driver and Aston Martin's ambassador Pedro de la Rosa also took part in the road show which saw drivers pilot their cars from Ronda Universitat Street to Aragó Street through Passeig de Gràcia boulevard.
Formula One President and CEO Stefano Domenicali also appeared on the stage where he was joined by members of the F1 Academy, such as Nerea Martí, Emely de Heus, Hamda Al Qubaisi, and Maya Weug.
