Pirelli confirms aggressive tyre choice for Hungary and conservative selection for Zandvoort

Formula One’s sole tyre manufacturer Pirelli has confirmed the tyre selections for the forthcoming three races with the Budapest round set to feature a rather aggressive tyre choice.

The longest season in Formula 1 history continues with a further three races in Europe, the first two in Hungary and Belgium come before the summer break, while the third in the Netherlands kicks off the next part of the season. Over these three rounds every compound in Pirelli’s 2024 range will come into play.

Starting in Budapest from 19 to 21 July, it will be the turn of the softest trio, with the C3 as Hard, the C4 as Medium and the C5 as Soft.

One week later and the circus moves to one of the most thrilling and demanding tracks on the calendar, namely Spa-Francorchamps, with its wide range of corner types and some major compressions due to changes in gradient. The mid-range compounds will be in use here, with the C2 as Hard, the C3 as Medium and the C4 as Soft.

Zandvoort from 23 to 25 August, a very difficult challenge, featuring two banked corners where the hardest trio of compounds, as used yesterday at Silverstone, will come into play: C1 as Hard, C2 as Medium and C3 as Soft.
