Mercedes and McLaren reserve driver Mick Schumacher completed a test day with the Woking-based F1 outfit, taking part in Pirelli’s latest tyre development test.

After the British Grand Prix, Pirelli stayed at Silverstone with three teams - McLaren, Haas and Williams. The Italian tyre manufacturer staged its latest, sixth in-season tyre testing, having worked on its products at Suzuka, Jerez, Barcelona, La Castellet and Mugello earlier during the year.

The aim was to evaluate the compounds and constructions Pirelli intends to run during the 2025 season.

While Haas worked with Pietro Fittipaldi and Oliver Bearman and Williams with Alexander Albon, McLaren elected to complete the work with Mick Schumacher.

It was Schumacher’s first appearance in a McLaren Formula 1 car after joining the Woking-based outfit as reserve driver last year.

The former Haas driver racked up a total of 53 laps and set a best time of 1’37.428. However, his running was restricted to intermediate and wet-weather tyres with rain having hit the Silverstone track on multiple times during the day.

The Swiss-born German driver serves as reserve driver for Mercedes and McLaren in 2024 while he also competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Alpine in the Hypercar category.

The in-season tyre testing will conclude at Monza with Pirelli set to stage its last evaluation outing after the Italian Grand Prix.
