Reigning world champion Max Verstappen insists that he is intent on staying with the Milton Keynes-based outfit which has become hos second family over the past years.

Since the announcement of Lewis Hamilton's departure from Mercedes, several drivers have been mentioned as a possible candidate for the seven-time world champion.

Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has also been mentioned as a surprise replacement for Hamilton. Although the Dutchman has a multi-year contract with Red Bull, internal turmoil has led to instability inside the Milton Keynes-headquartered outfit which fuelled speculation about Verstappen's possible shock departure.

However, the three-time world champion has reaffirmed his commitment to Red Bull, calling the team "like a second family" to him.

“But generally also the relationship I have with the team. It definitely feels like a second family. I can really be myself here and that is also something very important for my future."

Reflecting on his time with Red Bull on the team's Talking Bull podcast, Verstappen highlighted his first victory with the team at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix and his maiden title win in 2021 as career highlights.

“That first race with the team and the first championship [are the highlights]. That first race, of course, because I had just been promoted [from junior team Toro Rosso].”

“Some people still question whether that was the right decision. Fortunately, that weekend went very well. Of course I was very happy about that, also for Helmut [Marko, Red Bull adviser].”

“He was also very happy, of course, because it was his decision to put me in that car. That first title together, yes, that one was very emotional. Especially after such a year, which demanded a lot from everyone. Those are moments I will never forget.”
