Bearman wants to learn the winning menatality from Lewis Hamilton
Current F2 driver Oliver Bearman insists he is intent on learning the winning mentality from seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton when he makes the step up into Formula One next year.
Ferrari's junior driver Oliver Bearman is currently completing his second season in Formula 2, but he has struggled for outright pace in qualifying which has massively influenced his race weekends with the format that is in place in F1's main feeder series.
Despite his current struggles, the British driver has been chosen by Haas as part of the American outfit's major shake-up which will see the team compete with an all-new driver line-up.
The deal that will see Bearman race alongside freshly-signed Esteban Ocon was announced at Silvestone ahead of the British Grand Prix. The British driver insists that he intends to learn from Lewis Hamilton, who will make the sensational move from Mercedes to Ferrari in 2025.
Expanding on the opportunity to learn from the seven-time world champion, Bearman noted: "I think he'll bring a lot of experience to the team.
"He's won seven world championships - that's something that not many people can say. He'll bring a good mentality to the team, a winning mentality, but of course his talent is undeniable. He's one of the best to have ever done it."
"It's great that I in some way he can share his experience with me slightly. I hope that I will learn a lot from him and I hope that Ferrari will as well because I think he will be a great asset to the team."
Bearman already has an F1 race under his belt, having made his debut at the pinnacle of motorsport at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix when he stepped in for the injuries Carlos Sainz. The Briton, who delivered a faultless drive in Jeddah en route to a seventh-place finish, said that Ferrari is the most iconic brand in motorsport.
"I think Ferrari is one of the most iconic brands in the world, of course within racing and F1. If you draw a car, it's red. It's a brand that's synonymous with racing, with victory, with success and with fantastic drivers as well," Bearman said.
"So, first of all, to have made my debut with Ferrari, that hasn't happened for a very long time. And the fact that I became the youngest Ferrari driver was something very special for me.
