Perez is confident that Red Bull has "no more questions" regarding its current issues

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez is confident that the Milton Keynes-based outfit will find a fix for its current balance issues with the RB20, claiming that a solution could suddenly turn things around.

Following a tough qualifying for Red Bull in the Monza qualifying session, the Italian Grand Prix was always going to turn out as a race of damage limitation in terms of the drivers’ championship. However, the reigning champion team lost out hugely in the constructors’ standings after McLaren managed to collect an impressive haul of points.

While the last two seasons saw Max Verstappen claim an easy victory at Monza, the Dutchman and his team-mate Sergio Perez never looked comfortable behind the wheel of their RB20 at last weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

The Dutch driver and the Mexican racer both extended their first stint of the 53-lap race, but they could not capitalise on their fresher rubber and the offset strategy, ending the last European round of the season sixth and eighth respectively.

Similar to the Zandvoort round, Perez displayed a much better showing at Monza than in previous races, having been very close in terms of race pace to Verstappen in the opening stint.

However, the Mexican fell back behind George Russell in the closing stages of the race to finish 8th at the round of the European leg of the season.

“Since lap one of FP1 this weekend has been tricky and unfortunately, we just never got there. In the beginning today the balance was looking better on the hard and we were able to look after the tyre, but very early on we started to struggle with degradation, and it became hard to manage.

"On the final stint on the mediums, we did a long stint, and given the pace on that tyre, it was quite difficult to maximise things. My fight with George was just on the limit and we had a nice battle but the tyre wouldn’t work for us. We struggled with pace but more than that it was the balance, so we must work to pull it all together a bit more, between low speed and high speed.

Pushed on to comment on Red Bull's current issues, Perez sounded a positive note, claiming that he hopes that the Milton Keynes-based outfit will return to top form in the near future.

"I am very confident the Team here at track and back at home have the solution, we have produced great cars in the past and there is no reason why we cannot get back on track.

"We have no questions now, we know the problem. Given it is all related to balance, if we can find a fix then we can switch it around but for now, it’s head down until we find the answer,"
