Las Vegas presents trophies for 2024 F1 race
Ahead of the fourth Las Vegas Grand Prix, the organisers have unveiled the trophies that the podium finishers will receive when Formula One visits the brand-new circuit in November after its debut in 2023.
Formula One returned to Las Vegas last season which marked the first time that the sport held three rounds in the United States during the same season.. F1 previously raced in Las Vegas in 1981 and 1982, but those races were referred to as the Caesars Palace Grand Prix.
For last year, an all-new circuit was designed, which was built around the famous Las Vegas Strip. The track was designed by Hermann Tilke's company, and the project was led by his son Carsten Tilke.
It was also the first time that Formula One itself acted as promoter of an event, and even purchased a piece of land to build permanent pit and paddock facilities that are used during race weekends.
The 6.201km track consists of 17 corners, giving a race distance of 309.958km, which meant that drivers needed to complete 50 laps. The circuit itself is located next to many of the most famous casinos, including a 1.9 km straight down the Las Vegas Strip, as well as two other lengthy straight sections.
Ahead of the fourth F1 race in Las Vegas and the second that will be referred to as the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the promoters have revealed the trophies the three podium finishers and the winning constructor will receive.
