Ferrari and Shell extend partnership with new multi-year agreement
Ferrari has announced the extension of its contract with Shell which will take effect on January 1, 2026, and will include its Hypercar programme in the World Endurance Championship and the Ferrari Challenge series alongside its Formula One activities.
Shell and Ferrari have a long-standing partnership at the pinnacle of motorsport. Their collaboration dates back to 1929, when Enzo Ferrari founded Scuderia Ferrari which acted as a racing division for Alfa Romeo at the time. The two companies have been cooperating for over 90 years, overseeing 10 constructors’ F1 World Championships and 12 drivers’ titles, including five of Michael Schumacher's seven world championships.
In Formula One, Shell and Ferrari have worked together in three spells: from 1951 until 1964, and from 1966 until 1973. The third spell started in 1996, and they have been together since then.
The British multinational oil and gas company - headquartered in London - has a long history of motorsport sponsorship, most notably Scuderia Ferrari, BRM (1962–1966 and 1968–1972), Scuderia Toro Rosso (2007–2013 and 2016), McLaren (1967–1968 and 1984–1994), Lotus (1968–1971), Ducati Corse (since 1999), Team Penske (2011–present), Hyundai Motorsport (since 2005), AF Corse, Risi Competizione, BMW Motorsport (2015–present with also Pennzoil) and Dick Johnson Racing (1987-2004 and 2017–present).
Starting in 2023, Shell became the official fuel for IndyCar Series, supplying E100 race fuel for all teams.
Ferrari has now confirmed that the partnership which set to expire at the end of 2025, has already been renewed a full 12 months in advance.
The Scuderia has noted: “Ferrari is pleased to announce the multi-year renewal of its partnership with Shell. The agreement, which will take effect on January 1, 2026, includes Scuderia Ferrari HP, Ferrari Hypercar, and the Ferrari Challenge series.”
