Having finished the tricky Sao Paulo Grand Prix in seventh spot, RB driver Yuki Tsunda has been fined after having exceeded the speed limit before the race.

RB driver Yuki Tsunoda secured his best ever starting position in Formula One in the qualifying session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, taking third on the grid for the 71-lap race. The Japanese driver had a great start, and clang on to his starting position.

However, a relatively early pit stop and a red flag brought out by Williams racer Franco Colapinto saw the Sagamihara-born driver drop down to eighth, albeit a ten-second penalty for McLaren's Oscar Piastri meant that Tsunoda was promoted to seventh.

However, the FIA has confirmed that Tsunoda was handed two fines after having exceeded the speed limit in the pit lane twice during the reconnaissance laps ahead of the start of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

The stewards noted: “Car 22 exceeded the pit lane speed limit which is set at 80 km/h for this event by 0.2 km/h.

“Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.”
