Having missed the first round of the 2024/2025 Formula E season, permanent FE Race Director Scot Elkins has been replaced by his Deputy Race Director Marek Hanaczewski.

The FIA Formula E Championship has already completed its first round of the 2024/2025 season, with Sao Paulo having hosted the opening race of Season 11 of the all-electric series.

While the race control has been directed by Scot Elkins for several years, it was a different person to take on the role of race director at the season-opening Sao Paulo E-Prix. The American missed the first race in Brazil for personal reasons, and his duties were taken over by Marek Hanaczewski.

Hanaczewski has served as the permanent Deputy Race Director since January 2022. He was supported by Benoit Dupont, who normally works as Head of Circuit Operations in Formula E and Sporting Matters in WEC, but he acted as Deputy Race Director at Sao Paulo.

Elkins is expected to return in his position at the Mexico E-Prix onwards on Jan 11.

Hanaczewski joined the FIA in May 2017, taking of the role of Head of Race Control Operations during Formula E events. He was responsible for safety advisory, software and hardware advisory, track inspection and race control systems. In January 2022, he was appointed Deputy Race Director to work alongside Scot Elkins.
