We're looking forward to our home game in the Eifel - Theissen

Following the San Marino Grand Prix, the members of the BMW Sauber F1 Team were disappointed with the race result in Imola. In his regular column, BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen reviews the race and looks towards the future.

"Dear motorsport enthusiasts,

Following the good performance three weeks ago in Australia, we were unfortunately not able to compete as well as we had imagined at the beginning of the European part of the Formula One season. It only went really well for us during the free practice sessions in Imola. In the qualifying session and in the race, neither of the drivers managed to record the lap times we had expected. Only in the last stages of the race Jacques was partially able to match the lap times of the leading drivers. Now it is our job to analyse these inconsistencies and to take the appropriate measures.

During the first pit stop, Jacques encountered a problem with two wheel nuts, which delayed him by 15 seconds. Nevertheless, even without this unfortunate incident, Jacques would not have made it into the points.

The one positive aspect is that both engines completed their second race weekend together for the first time and managed to master this challenge. We will now be able to gather valuable information when we take the engines apart. At the Nurburgring, both drivers will then enter with fresh BMW P86 engines.

We're looking forward to our home game in the Eifel, and we have something special prepared for that weekend. At the Nurburgring, the BMW Sabuer F1 Team Pit Lane Park will celebrate its debut. One could say this high-tech event park is a part of the pit lane in the middle of the spectators.

Yours sincerely,

Mario Theissen"
