Second day of testing this week for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, working again at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona. Michael Schumacher and Luca Badoer took to the track, both at the wheel of a 248 F1.

In the morning the Scuderia's official test driver had an off-track excursion, but he emerged unscathed, after colliding with the safety barrier. However, the car was seriously damaged, to the extent that the day's work had to stop and the car will not run tomorrow either. Up to the time of the accident, Luca had covered 28 laps, the quickest in a time of 1.15.644.

Schumacher continued work on Bridgestone tyre development and on testing new components. The German completed 82 laps, the quickest in 1.13.469.
Testing continues at this circuit tomorrow, with only Michael Schumacher on track.
