One of my favourite circuits - Fisico

Giancarlo Fisichella, the Italian driver of the Renault F1 Team, arrives at one of his favourite circuits with a new contract for 2007 in his pocket. This weekend, the Roman will try to prove that he's worthy of his new contract with the Champions.

Giancarlo, how are you feeling ahead of Friday practice?

"Really good. I renewed my contract with the team last week, which was my target. It gives me more confidence, especially for the rest of the season. There is a great atmosphere in the team at the moment and we are ready to achieve great things."

Montreal has always been a favourite circuit for you…

"Yes. I have always done well here in the past. I have never won a race in Montreal, but I have shown what I can do here… even last year when I was leading before I retired with an hydraulic problem. I have scored four podiums here."

What are the characteristics of the circuit?

"It includes heavy braking and acceleration, and no quick corners. However, top speed is important and we don’t run much downforce. What’s more, there is very low grip, especially on the first day because the circuit isn’t used all year, and conditions are constantly improving. That makes it hard to find the braking points, be quick in the chicanes and keep the car on the track!"
