SA06 car launch confirmed
The eagerly anticipated arrival of the SA06 will take place at the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim next month. The Super Aguri's F1 Team’s new car was originally planned to debut at the French Grand Prix, however a series of events have delayed the launch by one race weekend.
Chief Technical Officer, Mark Preston, has been noticeably absent from the Canadian and US Grands Prix in order to ensure that the SA06 is completed as soon as possible. The team is delighted to confirm that during this time the SA06 has passed all the required FIA crash tests. The initial SA06 design and build schedule with a deadline of the F1 race at Magny Cours was extremely tight and with no margin for delay in any area of production. The schedule was first affected by a delay in
the decision on the specification of gearbox the SA06 should utilise.
A further delay in the SA06 schedule ensued when all model testing halted for five days due to a technical problem at the wind tunnel facility last month. The team increased its working hours even further in an attempt to make up for lost ground, but have now decided upon a more realistic launch date of 28th July at the German Grand Prix.
