Schumacher fastest on final Jerez day
Just as on Thursday temperatures rose high into 36 degrees and allowed the present teams to test thoroughly. As Renault, McLaren and Honda left the testing yesterday, it was a less busy session which proved fruitful for both the drivers and cars. The best time was set by Ferrari man Michael Schumacher who was today over a second faster than Jacques Villeneuve.
At BMW Sauber, Kubica and Villeneuve had a mixed programme today, consisting of tyre and aero testing. They tried out several new parts that are said to have delivered promising results. In the afternoon the focus was mainly on tyre testing in view of the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. The drivers evaluated different compounds and casings.
