Final day of testing for Renault F1 Team in Jerez
The Renault F1 Team finished today its three-day development programme on the Spanish circuit. It was once again a busy session, mainly focused on preparations for the Chinese Grand Prix. Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen continued to work on tyre selection with our partner Michelin and covered a good number of laps to collect some interesting data.
Giancarlo Fisichella completed 170 laps for his final day of preparation and concluded the session with the fourth-fastest laptime in 1'17.056. The Italian ran an intensive programme and seemed to be satisfied with directions taken by the team and Michelin for the next race.
Heikki Kovalainen, who was back at the wheel today, completed some measurement work this morning for Michelin and then completed his programme without any major problem. He finished his session with 114 laps covered in 1'17.171. The Finn will be driving again next week in Silverstone to prepare for the Japanese Grand Prix with the test team.
Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer: " We completed our programme thanks to excellent reliability of both cars which allowed us to cover a large number of laps. The drivers did a really good job, especially as we pushed them a lot to make up for lost time. They did no mistakes and gave interesting feedback regarding the tests we made today. We are definitely satisfied with our preparation for the Chinese GP. "
