Ammermüller confirmed as Red Bull's 3rd driver
Following a successful test in Jerez, Red Bull Racing has confirmed today that Michael Ammermüller will fulfil Friday driving duties for the team at the two forthcoming Asia-based Grands Prix.
A product of the Red Bull Junior Programme, Michael was it's most successful driver in 2005. Racing in the Italian Formula Renault Championship and the Eurocup, he scored nine victories, 21 podiums, seven pole positions and seven fastest laps. In 2006 he moved to GP2, where he contested the Championship for the Arden International
Team. He made a notable start by winning his second race at the Championship's opening round in Valencia, Spain. He will now move to Formula One as a Friday driver for the Chinese and Japanese Grands Prix.
Michael Ammermüller commented, "This is a fantastic opportunity for me. Formula One is the ultimate for every racing driver and to have the chance to work as a test driver for Red Bull Racing is very exciting. Working with the team at the test in Jerez it was obvious it has big ambitions, which is very motivating. I'm now completely focused on my task ahead. I'll be looking to learn as much as possible and I'm in the right place and with the right team to be able to do that."
