Kimi takes the streets of Dubai

On Tuesday, 26th September, Kimi stopped off in Dubai on his way to the Chinese Grand Prix to take to the wheel of his Formula 1 car on the streets of the city with Team McLaren Mercedes Corporate Partner Emirates.

The spectacular demonstration saw Kimi thrill onlookers as he drove around a circuit of a specially-closed section of Za’beel Road in what was the first-ever demonstration of a Team McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 car in the Middle East.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman & Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, who was present at the event said: “This demonstration was an exciting opportunity to experience the thrills of Formula One at first-hand.”

He added: “As an organisation closely associated with high-profile sport worldwide, we’re very pleased to be involved in Formula One with Team McLaren Mercedes, and delighted to bring its unique excitement to Dubai for the first time.”

Kimi Raikkonen said: “I am very pleased to be here in Dubai with Emirates to demonstrate my Formula 1 car. It’s always exciting to take part in events like the one today, especially as we are demonstrating our Formula 1 car for the first time in Dubai. Obviously this event could not have happened without the support of Emirates.”

In addition to the street demonstration, Kimi met with local children and took part in a press conference for media from the region.
