Christijan Albers announced today on his website that he will race for Spyker next season. As Spyker is the first Dutch Team, a Dutch driver like Albers couldn't be missed in the drivers line-up. Here follows the statement of Albers.

"Dear fans,

I am happy to tell you, the fans, that I have signed a deal with Spyker for next season! As I am writing this the team is preparing the press release for the media. It will be released in about three hours from now, at 13.00 local Shanghai time. Fortunately I can inform you guys the great news first!!

I am extremely proud and happy to received a new contract with Spyker. It’s a Dutch team, with great people behind it. We can continue building what we started this year. The start of this season was hard, but things have been going better and better all the time. Now it’s time for the next step! It couldn’t be at a better time than with a real Dutch team obviously.

I have a lot of confident in our future. With the backing of car manufacturer Spyker, our people in the Silverstone factory, and our loyal sponsors it will become a great season next year. The team will also announce their 2007 engine supplier very shortly, I can’t wait for next season really!

For now we will remain focussed on the final three races in our wonderful orange and silver Spyker MF1 Racing car. I think it looks brilliant!

I would like to thank our Team Principal Colin Kolles, my management GR8 Industries, Michiel Mol, Victor Muller and all my fans for their incredible support in the past few months and once again I’m really happy to be able to bring this special announcement to you, the fans, first here at my own website!

See you! Christijan"
