Renault F1 Team does its bit for Children in Need

The United Kingdom will all come together on Friday 17 November for the BBC’s annual Children in Need fundraising marathon, which seeks to raise money for disadvantaged throughout the country. It’s an event that draws in people from all walks of life and for 2006, the double world champion Renault F1 Team is jumping aboard too.

Throughout the day on Friday, team members will participate in marathon X-Bike training sessions in the team’s Johnson HPC training facility. X-Biking is basically static mountain biking, and the machines are regularly used by the team’s Renault Development Drivers as part of their training programme. But as we’re doing it for Children in Need, there’s a twist…

The twist is fancy dress. Team members have volunteered to come along and pedal for charity, but they have do so in some unusual training gear… It could be a wedding dress, a nurse’s outfit or, more probably, a fireproof suit used by the team’s pit-crew. But ideas are buzzing round the Enstone factory among the 50 volunteers who have signed up!

It promises to be a fun event, and the team’s tongue will be firmly in its cheek throughout the day… in the hope of ultimately raising a smile with millions of disadvantaged children throughout the UK.
