Looking forward to Valencia - Holzer
Marco Holzer, winner of the 2005 Formula BMW World Final, will step inside the cockpit of a Formula One car for the first time this Thursday. As a reward for his victory in December of last year in Bahrain, the 18-year-old receives the chance to test the BMW Sauber F1.06 on the 'Circuit de la Communitat' in Valencia.
The anticipation and excitement have been growing in the ten months during which Holzer was forced to wait for his Formula One test. The talented young driver is determined to use this opportunity because "this Formula One test is the greatest experience for me," as Holzer admits. "Now it's about preparing for the enormous forces effective in a Formula One vehicle."
Holzer will already travel to Valencia on Tuesday. Together with the engineers of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, the German will then begin with the final preparations for the test drive on Thursday. Additionally, fitness exercices have been scheduled in order to be able to cope with enormous strains as well as possible. Thursday morning will witness the 'installation lap'. The first lap with the BMW Sauber F1.06 serves the purpose of conducting a last vehicle test. Following a 15 minute break, Holzer will then begin the approximately four hour long test.
"I wanted to commend myself early on, since the Formula One is my express goal and my greatest dream," Holzer says. "It will be exciting to see how I can cope with the roughly five to six times as high engine performance of the BMW Sauber Formula One car."
