Kubica underlines the young drivers' individuality
In the past season, Robert Kubica's name was often mentioned in connection with the catchword 'The new Formula One generation'. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver, however, regards this classification as farfetched.
"I don't quite see the sense in this term that mainly is used by the media," Kubica says. "There always have been new, young drivers moving up to Formula One. Furthermore, you have to ask yourself where to draw the line. Heikki Kovalainen and Sebastian Vettel, for instance, don't belong to the same generation."
According to Robert, the drivers shouldn't be compared with one another so often on principle. The differences between them, he claims, are just too big. "Everybody is racing in a different car and for a different team. Therefore, these comparisons often are moot," the Pole stresses.
Michael Schumacher's retirement sparked a fierce debate among both experts and Formule One enthusiasts on the topic who might be the next Formula One superstar. Robert has been one of the drivers who are named quite often in this debate, but the 22-year-old says: "I don't think about that. I just try to give my very best and we will see what happens. I'm just delighted to have the chance of racing for BMW and don't spend a lot of thinking about the future."
