you always try to find something that will increase your speed - Vettel
In his role as the official test and reserve driver of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, Sebastian Vettel substantially contributes to the progress of the team from Munich and Hinwil. However, the 19-year-old emphasizes the importance of teamwork in this development process.
Next to Timo Glock, Sebastian is one of two test drivers of the BMW Sauber F1 Team for the 2007 season. Although he covers countless kilometres on the track, he would never claim sole responsibility for the continuous development of the BMW Sauber F1.07. "The GP drivers contribute to the development of the car as much as Timo and I do," says Vettel. Therefore, successful testing work is dependent on the effective cooperation of the test and the GP drivers.
However, the drivers are only one of the factors contributing to the development of the car, as Sebastian explains: "Initially, the input of all four drivers goes to the engineers. They are the ones who detect potential weaknesses of the car. The feedback is then passed on to the construction department. Generally speaking, you always try to find something that will increase your speed."
