Bridgestone's demand smoother driving style - Kubica
The FIA's new tyre regulations were one of the reasons for the BMW Sauber F1 Team's extensive test programme in Spain and Bahrain. Robert Kubica reveals the conclusions he has drawn from pre-season testing.
All the teams involved at the pinnacle of motor racing will contest the 17 rounds of the 2007 Formula One season with control tyres supplied by Bridgestone. During the extensive pre-season testing programme, the BMW Sauber F1 Team coped well with the Japanese manufacturer's tyres. Robert Kubica gives view regarding the Bridgestone Potenza tyres: "The Bridgestone tyre construction is quite different to what we had last year. You have to adapt your driving style. But I feel this is already behind us now. I drive more smoothly with less steering angle and it's okay," he reveals.
While the tests in Spain were held in cool and sometimes wet conditions, Bahrain offered the BMW Sauber F1 Team the first chance of running in really hot conditions. Robert is happy with what was achieved in these tests: "We did a complete race simulation with both cars which worked fine," he says. "It was a good step forward. We are getting better in terms of reliability. Hot conditions should not be a big problem for the performance of the car. It responds well. We just will have to watch the set-up and make sure to limit the stress for the tyres."
