Lack of balance for BMW
Both Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld had complains about the lack of balance of the F1.07 car. It appears that the BMW Sauber F1 Team still has a lot of work to do before tomorrow's qualifying session.
Robert Kubica:
BMW Sauber F1.07-04/BMW P86/7
1st Practice: 10., 1.37.121 min
2nd Practice: 7., 1.36,717 min
“We have had many problems today. Some we were able to fix in second free practice, but there is still some more work to do to fix the rest.”
Nick Heidfeld: BMW Sauber F1.07-05/BMW P86/7 2nd Practice: 10., 1.36,862 min “I am not happy with my car yet. Especially at the beginning of the session the balance was not good at all, and the car was difficult to drive. Although later we made a step in the right direction, there is still a lot of work to do.”
Sebastian Vettel: BMW Sauber F1.07-03/BMW P86/7 1st Practice: 12., 1.37,837 min “I had a trouble free morning. My main task was the comparison of the two different tyre specifications and we got a lot of data. This is a new track for me and I found it wide and relatively difficult to learn. Particularly in corners ten and 11 and 13 and 14 it was not easy to find the right line, but I got used to it pretty quickly.”
Willy Rampf, Technical Director “Both our race drivers complained about the lack of car balance. Despite several modifications to the set up of the car, we were not able to make a significant step forward. We now have to analyse all the data in order to understand where this problem comes from.”
