Limited running for Spyker at Barcelona
The Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula One Team had a shortened second day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya today. Adrian Sutil took over driving duties, but completed just 11 laps after running was limited to the afternoon as the team completed repairs to the F8-VII/02 chassis following Adrian Valles' accident yesterday.
On a day punctuated by thunderstorms and heavy showers, the team elected to finish its day just before 15:00hrs local time when torrential rain fell mid-afternoon. With no sign of the wet conditions easing off, the team decided to preserve tyres and parts for tomorrow's expected drier conditions.
Christijan Albers will take over from Adrian tomorrow for the third day of the test.
Mike Gascoyne, chief technical officer "Unfortunately due to the inclement weather conditions, we could only do a limited number of laps. The boys did a fantastic job working through the night to repair the car from yesterday's accident, so thanks to them, but due to a shortage of spare parts, we didn't want to risk too much. Hopefully we will have much better conditions tomorrow in the morning when Christijan takes over and we'll be able to get some more representative information."
