I enjoyed every single lap - Vettel
Sebastian Vettel celebrated his Formula One debut in Indianapolis at short notice. For the German, the first appearance in a Grand Prix race will always remain a special moment. The fact that he was able to score a point is the icing on the cake for the 19-year-old.
When Sebastian entered his first GP weekend in Indianapolis, he had already been able to gather a great deal of experience at the wheel of the BMW Sauber F1.07. In the past months he completed thousands of test and practice kilometres in the BMW Sauber F1 Team car.
However, the race on the "Brickyard" of Indianapolis was a very special occasion for Vettel. "I enjoyed every single lap. It's a shame that it is already over," commented the German. "It was a very long race and it gave me enough time to have fun."
The fact that he has become the youngest driver in Formula One history to ever collect a championship point is of secondary importance to Sebastian. "First and foremost, I am happy that everything went so well. Obviously, it is fantastic to win a point," he exclaimed.
Assuming Robert Kubica will get the green lights from the doctors to race in France, Sebastian will now have to wait another four weeks before he can compete in his next race. In Hungary, the next rounds of the "World Series by Renault" are scheduled for the 14th and 15th of July. In this series, Sebastian is currently ahead in the drivers' classification.
