Our pace is good - Fisico

For the Italian ING Renault F1 Team driver, Giancarlo Fisichella, the aim’s still the same: to finish in front of the 2 BMWs tomorrow. The Roman will start the British Grand Prix from 8th position on the grid.

Giancarlo, how did qualifying go for you today?

"Not great. In the third part I had a problem as my brake pedal went long because of a knock-off glitch, so I lost a few tenths in turn 4. It’s a pity it had to happen on the most important lap. But I think our pace is good and the aim’s still to beat the BMWs."

Did the wind upset you?

"It’s the same thing for everybody. The car’s handling changes from one corner to the next and the situation evolves from lap to lap. If there are the same gusts in the race it’ll be very difficult to follow another car closely. But today the situation was better than yesterday."

Where do you stand in relation to the BMWs this weekend?

"I think we’re very close. It’ll be important to make a good start, not make any mistakes and bet on a good strategy. The car was consistent in the long runs we did in free practice, and that’s very encouraging."
