At the Nürburgring Nick Heidfeld will be contesting his only "home" Grand Prix of the 2007 season. As such, the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver welcomes the prospect of a large turnout of fans at the circuit.

"I am really looking forward to the race at the Nürburgring," said Heidfeld ahead of the European Grand Prix. "Traditionally most of my fans have visited this race, and, as a result of the good results we posted this year, we are expecting quite a few more to attend."

The circuit in the Eifel Mountains holds some good memories for Nick. "When I drove the Formula One car around the Nordschleife at the end of April, the atmosphere was fantastic," he recalls. "It's a good feeling having that kind of support, and one or other family members will also be coming along to the Ring."

The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver first competed at the Nürburgring in his youth. "As a youngster I enjoyed lots of outings to the Nürburgring with my father and my two brothers as it isn't far from Mönchengladbach. Later there were race wins in various classes to add to those pleasant childhood memories."

The German currently lies fifth in the Drivers' Championship with 33 points, and his aim at the Nürburgring is to add to his team's tally. "I think we're pretty well prepared for the Ring. Our performance potential is a great motivator. Naturally it's a lot more fun when you know you're essentially in contention for points and good placings. If qualifying turns out better for me than at the last race in Silverstone, I should also be back in the running for the race."
