Massa and Alonso fight on and off the track

Immediately after the race there was obvious anger from Alonso towards Massa about his own overtaking manouvre to take the win. Alonso believes that Massa could have done a better job to try to avoid a collision between the two and effectively accused him of doing it on purpose.

The race was an absolute thriller as the start as an incredible amount of water poured down on the track. After the race was halted and restarted half an hour later, Massa took the lead, ahead of Alonso and Raikkonen. The positions largely remained the same as Raikkonen dropped out with a technical failure while Massa could slightly pull away from the Spaniard.

However, 7 laps from the end, rain came down again after which Alonso could easily close the gap and eventually, 4 laps from the end overtake Massa to take the win. The overtake appeared rather clean but especially Alonso believed this not to be the case: "The rain in the end helped us a lot - our car in the end seemed to perform better in wet conditions. The racing was very close, the dry line, the racing line, was getting dry. We touched two times and I 'apologise' to him (Massa) because we nearly didn't finish the race. Now I try to enjoy the victory and forget everything."

The 'apology' came at the the official post-race press conference. Both men had been arguing about the actual happenings.

Massa had the following to say afterwards: "In the dry the car was very good, I managed to pull away and get a controlled pace unfortunately then the rain came. I couldn't find the pace and Fernando came closer and closer and I couldn't keep him off. I was surprised that Alonso told me I did it (hit his tyre on Alonso's sidepod) on purpose so I got angry with him. If he is not happy with this it is not my problem."
