Fifth place was the maximum - Heidfeld

In the Belgian Grand Prix, Nick Heidfeld secured another four World Championship points, for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. The German is happy with his result, but admits the 14th round of the 2007 season could have run even better for him and the team. Nick's Spa-Francorchamps conclusion:

"Fifth place was the maximum," admits Heidfeld. "Still, it wasn't too good a race for the team as Robert had to leave Spa empty-handed. We were not too far away from the McLarens. I certainly wouldn't have been able to beat them, but without the problems in the opening stages their lead wouldn't have been that huge."

Nick was fifth on the grid but lost several positions right after the start, thus dropping back to eighth place. "I lost out at the start and then I tried to make up the lost ground by braking late into turn one. This strategy obviously didn't work and I was passed by one or two cars."

Over the course of the race, however, Nick succeeded in working his way back up to finish a well deserved fifth. In the Constructors' Championship, the BMW Sauber F1 Team now has a total of 90 points to its tally and holds - with all the McLaren points having been disallowed - second position behind Ferrari. With three more races to go, the Italian squad has already secured the Constructors' World Championship.
