Alonso closes on Raikkonen
Once more it is Kimi Raikkonen who will start from pole position this afternoon. It was however really close with Alonso as there only remained 0.083s between both men. Raikkonen lost in second qualifying about 0.4s to Alonso which may be promising for the race.
Also not that Mark Webber was able to maintain his third place on the grid as he put in a very very good lap with his Williams. In general this was one of the better qualifyings of the season for Williams as Nick Heidfeld is in 6th, just behind the seemingly better balanced Toyota of Trulli (compared to Saturday's qualifying).
In 8th is Michael Schumacher who overtook both his teammate and J. Villeneuve today. He is also lucky to see Montoya start from the back of the grid after the Columbian received a penalty for doing a braketest on Ralf Schumacher in free practice.
At last note, the McLaren of Kimi Raikkonen is on soft tires, as well as David Coulthard and the Sauber cars. On the harder Michelin compound are both Renaults. It is believed that cars with these soft tired may suffer towards the end of the grand prix. Therefore it could well be a very interesting Grand Prix of Monaco 2005.
