Alonso doesn't fear reigning Champion
Fernando Alonso, the leader of the 2005 drivers championship, doesn't think that Michael Schumacher could threaten him for the championship. Michael Schumacher is closing in on Alonso thanks to his win last week in America. Schumi scored 18 points in the last two GP's and stands on the third place with only 25 points less than the young, talented Spaniard.
Alonso said to the BBC: "He's back because he scored ten points at Indianapolis and eight in Montreal, but we know we were more competitive than Ferrari in Indianapolis and in front of him in Canada when we retired."
The Spaniard considers Kimi Raikkonen as his biggest threat for the
championship. Alonso: "The McLarens are a bit quicker than us and we have to develop our car. We're only half way through the season and the most important race will be the final one, but if the car is performing well we'll have a chance and we'll have a good gap to the others."
It's certain that the 2005 drivers championship will be thrilling till the end and that's a big alternation after years of kingship of Michael Schumacher.
