FIA disagrees with Ecclestone over anti-racism campaign
The FIA has reacted to the statement of Bernie Ecclestone that the 'Racing against Racism' campaign launched by the governing body is "unnecessary". Ecclestone made this comment this weekend as he believes the racial abuse during the Barcelona test session was a "one-off" incident.
Today, the FIA declared to the British newspaper 'The Guardian' that they are unmoved by the comments of Mr. E. The governing body insists that it has no doubts that it is doing the right thing by launching the anti-racism drive.
A spokesperson was quoted by The Guardian: "The FIA has made its position very clear. We will not tolerate racism of any kind in our sport and we will take whatever steps necessary to ensure that such scenes of racial abuse are never witnessed again."
