Proud of our lead in the team standings - Heidfeld

Although all eyes were on Robert Kubica at the Bahrain Grand Prix, Nick Heidfeld also drove a remarkable race. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver describes his impressions of the third race weekend of the year, and looks forward to the first stop in Europe.

After Nick struggled to find the right tuning for his BMW Sauber F1.08 in the free practice sessions, the German improved throughout the course of the weekend. Nick ended qualifying in sixth position on the grid, and finished the race in fourth place. "It was quite a difficult weekend for me, and fourth place is a decent result", Heidfeld comments on his performance in Bahrain. "We were quicker than McLaren. Only the Ferraris were faster than us, and even they weren't far ahead."

Nick's fighting performance at the "Bahrain International Circuit" was rewarded: the 30-year-old moved up to second place in the drivers' championship. His fourth place also contributed to the BMW Sauber F1 Team taking the lead in the constructors' championship.

Nick is certain that the BMW Sauber F1 Team can perform just as well at the Spanish Grand Prix on 27th April: "I am incredibly proud of our lead in the team standings. I am sure that our teams in Munich and Hinwil will use the time up to the race in Barcelona to further develop our potential."
