Looking forward to turn 8 - Heidfeld
Since the inaugural Turkish Grand Prix in 2005, there is one part of the "Istanbul Speed Park" that has made a lasting impression on the F1 drivers, turn eight. Nick Heidfeld looks forward to this challenging section.
"I'm looking forward to the race in Istanbul, particularly turn eight, the main feature of the circuit," said Nick Heidfeld before hitting the road to Turkey for the fifth round of the 2008 Formula One season.
For the German, this difficult section makes the forthcoming race particularly attractive. "It earned its fame in the very first Grand Prix because it is so tricky and causes plenty of spins and action," adds the German. "It's a very long, very fast corner with several apexes." Still, Nick is of the opinion that the Turkish GP venue features another key section. "You need a good top speed for the long back straight with its right-hand kink."
But the challenging circuit isn't the only reason Nick likes travelling to Turkey. "I'm also looking forward to Istanbul itself," he admits. "This city is a huge international metropolis in a truly unique location. There's a lot more to discover there than our schedule ever allows" added the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver.
