Whitmarsh denies that the FIA is picking on McLaren
The McLaren Mercedes Team was hit with penalties this weekend. First Hamilton received a ten-place grid penalty after the pitlane incident at Montreal, than team mate Kovalainen was put back on the grid as he impended Webber during qualifying and to and the weekend, Lewis got a drive-through penalty after passing Vettel by cutting the corner.
Hamilton said: "My drive-through penalty was an extremely close call: I felt I'd got past Vettel fairly and was ahead going into the corner. But I was on the outside and couldn't turn-in in case we both crashed, then I lost the back-end and drove over the kerb."
Despite being penalised 3 times, Martin Whitmarsh denied that the team believes the FIA is picking on them although this was insinuated by Ron Dennis after the French race. Whitmarsh said: "I'm sure Ron didn't indicate that really. He has the frustrations that happen immediately after the race. We had three penalties this weekend, we have got to accept it and move on."
