Colapinto has the potential to be a better/faster driver than Albon and Sainz in the short term.
But he is error-prone (not as much as Sargeant was), but as he is young, he tends to improve this in the future.
I warned all of you a few months ago.
I followed Colapinto in F3 and F2. He reminds me a bit of Leclerc, he is very fast, but he has a habit of making some driving errors.

All rookie drivers in F1 will make mistakes. The best the team can do is to give them a predictable car. Based on the sheer number of crashes for both drivers in the last 2 seasons, it is clear to me that the Williams cars have not been predictable.

The FW46 has to be the most crashed car in modern F1 history.

I don't think it's the car. Mostly just driver error.

Don't think we'll get it, but would be interesting to see Sainz feedback post-filming day and testing.

Looks like James Vowles has lost his chance to sell Colapinto. Now he is stuck with a huge repair bill, loss of revenue from the sale and an extra driver with no seat.

Another blunder from Vowels. Williams are a really poorly run team

If Williams was poorly run, they wouldn't have any cars to field given the sheer level of repair they've done over the course of this season. The Williams of the past few years would've closed the doors at this point.

Selling Colapinto wasn't even a thought on anyone's mind a few months ago anyway. Best thing for him is to continue getting seat time in private testing and wait for 2026.

I think Albon's performance is going to get exposed when Sainz gets there.

They chose to put three crash happy drivers in the cars this year.

The other teams are all quite competent and since Sauber looks to have it's house I'm order now I would put Williams down as the worst run overall. No doubt they are coming from a low base but it doesn't excuse their leadership.

Luke Browning will do FP1 for Williams.

For those who don't follow the F1 feeder series... Luke is an extremely fast driver. In my opinion, few drivers have the natural speed he has, and his potential is enormous. However, he has a very aggressive and dangerous driving style, making a lot of serious errors and is very prone to crashes (more so than Sargeant and Colapinto).

Yep, I also think the drivers are the problem and this is a clear management issue. The crashing is/was not new in 2023. Sargeant even set the car on fire in 2023.
They had a very decent car mid 2023, but I think the whole crashing in 2023 already by then stopped them from developing. Until mid 2024 they were back in the game....then the drivers finished it off again.

I really do not like Steiner, but he simply did draw the red line, that Vowles missed out for nearly two years. And this is the point:

The issue is, he will also (again) go "all-in" until he crashes. I fear if Vowles does not instruct them to take out the crashing, this will be mayhem again. Will be very hard to read anything from this "all-in until we crash" driving.

As much as I wish that meant something, it doesn't.

What I would be really interested to hear is Carlos detailed comparisons with this year's Ferrari.

146 laps for Sainz today. Fastest time of 1:23.635, about 2 tenths quicker than Albon's Q1 time.

No feedback likely as the Ferrari contract isn't finished.
