Insanely unlucky for Lewis
Bad name and its an ugly car!PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑07 Dec 2024, 14:22Yeah. Agreed not enough. A silly badge with some options on G Wagen is low effort.
Hope they honour in the future with a dedicated model, like what Sir Stirling Moss got with the Mercedes McLaren.

A special edition car as he leaves is a bit of a kick in the teeth, given one of the reasons for leaving was not being made an ambassador for the brandPlatinumZealot wrote: ↑07 Dec 2024, 14:22Yeah. Agreed not enough. A silly badge with some options on G Wagen is low effort.

Allison said if they're not replacing a damaged engine etc it comes of out the team's budget and they are already struggling budget wise with the string of crashes they had a few races ago. I think Lewis is quick enough as is, he was 2 tenths quicker than Russell after the first two sectors on that run despite being stuck in the dirty air of another car, He'll make his way through the field pretty quickly imovenkyhere wrote: ↑07 Dec 2024, 17:36I think Mercedes should give LH the full monty (ICE, battery, MGUs) fresh powertrain and start P20. He can blast through the field here, especially since it has many slow technical sectors and a few heavy braking zones where LH's late corner entry style can reap benefits. That would be a good farewell.
I was thinking that but he's P16 after Albon and Charles take their penalties and given the cost cap they cant just change the engine for that reason without incurring a huge cost as Shov explained in one of their recent debriefs.venkyhere wrote: ↑07 Dec 2024, 17:36I think Mercedes should give LH the full monty (ICE, battery, MGUs) fresh powertrain and start P20. Toto Wolff: I just need to apologize to Lewis. And everyone in the team that worked very hard. He was the quicker driver with the set up and also improving the car for next year. Inexcusable. I have rarely been so down. This has been the worst part of it. It was just idiotic.
You don't risk so much in a Q1 when we had the pace to make it out of the session. The most valuable driver for the team and the sport is out in Q1. [....] I can only say sorry to him.
