Their "special livery" is just a small block of 150 fans' names on the nose. The blue 77 number and overalls that Valtteri got in 2021 are way more than what Lewis gets.
wow they are going full cold turkey on him... minimal effort sendoff, not allowed to test for ferrari... :(
While the livery is underwhelming Merc are going all out for Lewis, Tribute video for him on their socials, letting him drive the W04 and W09 at Silverstone, launching a new G-Wagon this week as a tribute to him, the "HOF Sir Class", Banners of him at the front of Petronas' headquarters in Malaysia as well as in the UK and the US and there's still more coming
Agreed, there's also IWC Schaffhausen doing that jet video with Lewis, so his sponsors are giving him a lot as well. I do see a special livery and maybe overalls as a basic formality nonetheless.

“Sir Class” is not enough in my opinion, it should have been more obvious, lewis’ name should have been in it or his number

Yeah. Agreed not enough. A silly badge with some options on G Wagen is low effort.

Hope they honour in the future with a dedicated model, like what Sir Stirling Moss got with the Mercedes McLaren.

A qually lap behind another car is a nice way to wrap up this season,

Such bad luck that was with the bollard. Was up on time to make Q2 as well. When it rains it pours such a shame but sums up his season he’s had. Never know he might have an amazing race even that far back. He will be happy this season is over

I think Mercedes should give LH the full monty (ICE, battery, MGUs) fresh powertrain and start P20. He can blast through the field here, especially since it has many slow technical sectors and a few heavy braking zones where LH's late corner entry style can reap benefits. That would be a good farewell.

A special edition car as he leaves is a bit of a kick in the teeth, given one of the reasons for leaving was not being made an ambassador for the brand

Allison said if they're not replacing a damaged engine etc it comes of out the team's budget and they are already struggling budget wise with the string of crashes they had a few races ago. I think Lewis is quick enough as is, he was 2 tenths quicker than Russell after the first two sectors on that run despite being stuck in the dirty air of another car, He'll make his way through the field pretty quickly imo

I was thinking that but he's P16 after Albon and Charles take their penalties and given the cost cap they cant just change the engine for that reason without incurring a huge cost as Shov explained in one of their recent debriefs.

Toto aint happy with the team

Toto Wolff: I just need to apologize to Lewis. And everyone in the team that worked very hard. He was the quicker driver with the set up and also improving the car for next year. Inexcusable. I have rarely been so down. This has been the worst part of it. It was just idiotic.

You don't risk so much in a Q1 when we had the pace to make it out of the session. The most valuable driver for the team and the sport is out in Q1. [....] I can only say sorry to him.
