McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo has won the Italian Grand Prix ahead of team mate Lando Norris. As both title contenders again clashed and retired from the race, Valtteri Bottas had a brilliant recovery to finish third after starting from the back of the pack.
If you look at the fp2 long runs, Mercedes, RB and alpine alternated stints between their drivers, yet there is hardly any pace differences.
I expect most just to go medium-hard. For McLaren a double podium seems possible if played out well, and would be a great result, so I don't expect any high risk approach from them.
Double Podium? A win and a 1-2 would be even better for McLaren and they can do it with an great start and strategy.
Wish granted [-o<
Sometimes you have to speak it into existence what a great day
Would have been interesting, because the only guy who could have stopped Ricciardo winning was Lewis. I think Ricciardo may have actually won with all cars still in the race.

Nobody "has the right" to the corner as long as cars are significantly alongside each other. Every driver is obliged to leave enough space for the other car. The FIA has set the stand for this kind of squeezing being legal starting in Imola (Max leaving no space to Lewis). Every other incident with Max and Lewis has been the same, with Max leaving zero space even tgough Lewis is always alongside. Now FIA has to continue with that charade.
After the same thing at Barcelona, Horner called it “full Max Verstappen”
Great result so far for Mclaren if they finish like this.
Norris being a diva. He expects riciardo to givr him P1? lol
If you want P1 Norris you need to overtake for it.

If this incident were the other way round, 100% Hamilton (or any other driver for that matter) goes over the curbs to avoid a collision.

I always go back to Max forcing Leclerc off when they were side by side on Austria a few years back. That was ok apparenly.

Agree! I think he may have had it in the bag anyway, so I hope the narrative doesn't become just because Verstappen and Hamilton both didn't finish the race.

Maybe not. Impossible assertion to make
In this race, every other driver has basically done so in similar situations.
The stewards' decision on the Silverstone HAM/VER incident includes:
"Cars 33 and 44 entered turn 9 with Car 33 in the lead and Car 44 slightly behind and on the inside. Car 44 was on a line that did not reach the apex of the corner, with room available to the inside. When Car 33 turned into the corner, Car 44 did not avoid contact and the left front of
Car 44 contacted the right rear of Car 33. Car 44 is judged predominantly at fault."
The car positions are swapped for the Monza incident. VER was probably on a line that hits the apex but doesn't constitute an angle that would make the corner at the speed involved without driving HAM off circuit? In this case I'm not sure if HAM was turning in at the time that VER committed. VER had room to the inside to avoid contact - so the stewards may take the view that he could've taken avoiding action.
Different incidents overall but I expect that they'll take a similar decision in terms of apportioning a slightly more than 50% portion of blame for the incident to VER, with no penalty to either, unless there is telemetry to suggest intent to cause a collision.
