It's like they're short shifting all the time, and I've noticed both KERS and non-KERS cars having weird sudden jumps in the revs which sounds really strange. I can understand that in the KERS cars as the power kicks in, but it was happening on the Brawns as well.

Does everyone else hate the engine noise this year?
Yes yes, i heard that in several cars, strangely enough the williams was one of them. However when Kimi used it along w/the on screen graph, it didn't seem very noticeable noise wise. That being said they only showed it for a very short period and it was barely touched during that time. It was also strange hearing LH's radio telling him his kers was fully charged, i would have expected he would have known w/o being told, so i guess big issues are still being worked out on that unit. Also, when the new graph came up i thought we'd finally be able to see braking intensity, i've often wondered why the graph is simply on and off...
I noticed that too. I think that is something with image/sound transmission.
I watched it when it happened on Kimi's car and that KERS graphic was up, the engine picth changed but the revs where still going up according to the graphic, definately seems like a broadcast glitch.

That puts the Ferarri drivers one lap appart and makes the data more accurate overall.
How can they be 1 lap apart if they only have a 1.5 kg difference?
Massa will pit on lap 17 and Kimi on lap 18.
It makes no sense, why would MAssa carry the extra weight then? 1.5 kg is not enuff for an extra lap... so either KIMI gets good gas milage and can make up the difference, or Massa gets really bad milage. Or somebody used too much during qual.

By the way, fastest q2 time is 4 tenths faster this year than last, and with less power from the motor means increased corner speed(from the slicks) so probably more time spent near the rev limit, which is lower by 1k rpm.
Good point. The change in fuel burn has many different factors. What about the effeect of KERS on fuel burn rate? 400kJ of energy equates to how much fuel?

I dont think that factors into the fuel burn cuz the engine still runs thru the same rev range but maybe accelerates somewhat faster due to the torque of the MGU. VEry minimal.

They sure made a good start in confusing people with the regs, protest and race time! The countdown clock at the BBC site shows 4 hours and 40 mins to go. On formula1.com it shows 5h and 40 mins hours to go.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsp ... efault.stm

http://www.formula1.com/

Now it's 1:20am here and at 3am my hour changes to 4am. Now, what times should I set my alarm :?: :wtf:

Should I trust the official F1 site or the official broadcaster? d'oh!

Edit: Figured out the race starts 5,5 hours from now. =D>

Get your wake up call from a computer that is tied to a time server. You can allways use Bernies time where he converts the race time to local time. My iPhone will reliably wake me at 7.55 in Germany for the 8:00 race. My Power Mac will start recording an hour before that so that I can look at the pre race coverage later.

Something is wrong with your timing there. It's 12:16pm in Sydney/Melbourne right now and the race starts at 5pm so from the moment of this post (GMT 1:16am) there's 4:45hr till the race.

I have never heard of a 30 minute time zone difference before. Crazy Aussies....

Considering our country has more land mass than most of Europe and Adelaide is 800kms from Melbourne, our timezones do make sense.

So has anyone compared trap speeds between now and 08?
ISLAMATRON wrote: Or somebody used too much during qual.
Q3 fuel is kept separate, not deducted at race start. So if you burn through 15 kilos of fuel you get it back for race start.

I'm pretty sure they dont add any fuel back in, they used to count laps in q3 and give you back fuel according to how many laps you did(they called it fuel burn) but they got rid of that when they shortened Q3. Now whatever you have left after Q3 is what you start the race with... they weighed the cars after Q3 and those are the weights they gave us for the top 10.
