I don't think Mercedes engine having an issue. As there is a development restriction from 2022 on Engine, they may fine tuning the engine so that it will deliver higher performance with reliability. They won't accept public and cook some story around it to hide.

They may know from starting that this is not their year, wait and watch from 2022, Mercedes will runaway again till 2026.

whoever put more effort this year will suffer for next year. i.e. RB specifically. This year is the chance for RB to win else nothing....

Mercedes clearly have problems. If Bottas/Hamilton did not torpedoed the Red Bull guys, Honda could do the whole year with 3 ICE and etc, and thats a big difference. Back to the topic that GP will an easy run for RB, but Perez need some interesting tactic if Hamilton got penalty, he have to behind Bottas to avoid Mercedes team orders. So RB 1-3 with Bottas 2.

What an embarrassing championship by Mercedes...

Can't believe Mercedes are the ones that can't make it with 3-4 engines and need more! Honda was the one that had such issues in the past years yet they've managed to solve everything for 2021! Maybe it's time Mercedes says goodbye to the 2021 titles and gets fully loaded for 2022...

Anyway, on the race front! Scrolling through Twitter I read that Mercedes won't be able to use the clever rear suspension so much because Turn 6 is quite fast...that means that they won't be fast enough down the straights to recover time lost through S2! A penalty for Hamilton makes this a foregone conclusion for Max and Red Bull since both haven't made any mistakes all year long like Mercedes!

The engine was reliable early season but the attempt to extract a little bit more was too much for it.
According to Mariana Becker from Bandsports, the team made a choice but the Mexico engine is still alive, it's in the car as we speak, they are changing to ensure reliability to the end of the year.

On the setup front Hamilton very unhappy with the front suspension.
