Using the steering for squatting would be brilliant. But I think it's a a little bit far fetched. To me it's looks like Mercedes copied some things of RB and just did it better. A lot better even.

Or is that a too objective opinion, me being Dutch?
But just suppose it weren't hypothetical.

Not really- all the teams do copy and evolve aspects of each other's design which they see as effective, after all.

For example:

Ferrari's high sidepods
Mercedes' narrow nose and cape

Sorry if I've missed them, do we have any photos of these "scorings" on the rear wing that Horner et al are referring to?
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

That data looks completely wrong, I think the X axis is time instead of distance.

Anyway here's the rear wing area in question from Austria. Haven't found any similar from Brazil.

Shovlin was asked about the scorings after FP2 and he said (I'm paraphrasing, but this was the gist) that he didn't get what they (RBR) were talking about and as far as he was concerned there aren't any.

Here's an overlay gif comparing the W12 in USA when it's stopped and at speed. You can definitely see the slot gap open up.

And preempting the arguments about angles. That static shot should be a less favorable angle because it's from a higher position which should show the slot gap slightly more.

To me it looks like the the angles are the opposite to what you claim, the static shot is a lower angle and the moving image taken from higher-up

You can clearly see more of the back of the air-box in the second

The T wing is different in each photo, is it not? Surely it's not the same car- or at least the same car with the same setup - in each?

Lets not forget about how the rear squatting at speed would also change the angle, and how the gap is perceived!

You realize that's allowed right? the only thing that's regulated is the maximum and minimum spacing between them.

for example, you can see right through the gap.

I didn't say it wasn't allowed. I'm just showing the gap when stood still and when at speed to try and figure out what RBR are referring to.

Here's 2 decently similar angles from high speed and stood still. Need to find something a bit sharper and a higher speed though.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner claimed earlier today the W12’s rear wing features “score marks” which they suspect is linked to Mercedes’ strong straight-line speed in recent races.
“Make no bones about it, if we see it on the car here it will be protested,” Horner said.

Red Bull’s suspicions are believed to concern a discolouration seen on the inside of the rear wing endplate of the W12 next to its lower flap, beneath the DRS-adjustable upper flap (pictured).
