I heard someone mention a potential puncture of the tub. if so that's going to be an expensive and time-consuming rebuild tonight!

And somewhat concerning too

Andrew Benson on the BBC has just said Max's race pace doesn't look good, although maybe something is going on that makes his time's unrepresentative.
There was radio chat from Max where the team told him he needed to switch his attention to race pace or it would suffer, but he said he wanted to stick with quali testing. Understandably
I think getting your race setup and eye where it needs to be is going to be almost as important as qualifying here! I still think overtaking on the main strait with drs will be pretty easy!

Ok, the FIA needs to do something or we are going to have a horrendous accident!
What do you propose?

It has the FIA Grade 1 approval. The circuit could, however, install a number of extra slow-speed (yet compact) chicanes to significantly reduce speeds -- the chicanes on the Surfer's Paradise Champcar circuit could perhaps serve as a blueprint?

It was a case of putting additional laps on the tyre they planned to use to evaluate race pace. He wanted another go at a quali lap and I think they did a double warm-up. So all in maybe 3 or 4 more laps on the tyre.
Team ANTI-HYPE. Prove it, then I’ll anoint you.

They need to set a fairly high minimum lap time, and potentially eve dictate minimum speeds through certain mini sectors. We really don't need someone running into the back of someone else with a 80-100 MPH speed differential!

It's a bit too late this time for it, I suppose

I don't think there will be much overtaking on this track. Track position will be key. And the longer you can go the better; I suspect the overcut will be way to go.

Presumably Mercedes have an old engine in for today and the ‘Brazil spec’ goes in tomorrow?

If so, it’s looking pretty strong for them.

That would be a brand spanking new chassis right?

I thought he changed to a new one at Qatar already. That's a big ouch if so

It looks safer than Baku so far. It's unlikely under race conditions that someone's car would be stuck on the inside of the turns, but if someone does loose control it will be a situation where there are more likely to be flung outwards. Even in the esses is designed in a way that exits is what will get the drivers out, not the entries.

yeah, but I think it was mainly about losing time to do the long run. In the end (also due to the red flag of course) he was only able to do three laps at high fuel because of the extended quali sim

I see a start from the back of the grid coming. Looks like he could need a full rebuild, might be some engine damage as well.
