Soft tire is only good for one run and it overheats in sector 1. You have to raise the tire pressure for the tire to survive a lap let alone a stint.

By raising the pressure you reduce peak performance, it looks like the other compounds can be ran on lower pressures, which compensates for the fact they're harder compounds.
The C4 and C5 tend to be quite useless at most tracks, even in the 2 stop races. In Qatar, the C1, C2, C3 combination was a nice sweet spot. The C3 was able to do 20 laps in the race and give good pace in Qualy and the C2 and C1 around 25-35 laps in the race.

F2 sprint race track temp 40 degrees. Many on Yellow (2nd hardest) compound. Safety Car first lap.
Overtaking looks close to impossible, even in an F2 car.
Slipstream is looking OP as well on the back straight and the pit straight.

Thank god for that.

It was a disaster waiting to happen. If he said nothing he would've had to take responsibility.

Verstappen is really struggling to get the Softs to work, and needs super slow cool down laps in between. Will be interesting to see if Mercedes has the same issue

Easily see 1.26.5 in Q3 from Hamilton o this evidence. There must be at least half a second in each sector from a more aggressive deployment mode.

The soft tyre is being very confusing and it will be interesting what kind of warm up laps teams do for Q3

It's utterly bizarre isn't it.

I think it is appropriate, you need lower tyre temperature to start the lap, then build it up through the 1st sector, and to have some of the tire in the 2nd and 3rd sector. Even still Verstappen had less traction on his fastest lap out of T27.

Was it Monaco where something similar was required as well? the double warm-up/cool-down?. My memory is failing me.

Hamilton slower on softs now than on his last hard tyre lap. Very bizarre.

It reminds me of what happened at the 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Mercedes couldn't get the softs to do a fast lap.

I can see Max getting pole, I just hope Lewis has enough pace to overtake on Sunday.

And with Gasly first... what the hell was he doing? Trying to get a penalty so Toto would give him a new engine again?

It's kinda funny now the Sky F1 people (Crofty) talking about penalty ...wonder where we was yesterday when it was Hamilton who suffered the same issue...
