I think we all know how this will end with Verstappen's tyres dropping off at the end

all those safety cars play well for Maxes chances, tires have chance to cool off a bit, their quali setup may have been towards quick heat up, which turns into an overheating situation during the race
Or for lewis, if this does push the hards into a no more stop window, but not the mediums.

That’s the weirdest thing in all of this situation… Why make “offers”, either you apply penalties (grid positions, time, etc) or not… But you don’t bargain with the teams about it
If it hadn't been for the red flag, the teams would have been told to tell their driver to give the place back on track. But the red flag meant they didn't have the option to do that. So it would have to go to the stewards for their determination. So Masi gave them the option to do what they would normally have done.

At least, that's how I see it.
That makes sense, but still… I don’t understand the whole “offer” thing… If Max had to give the position back, he should have done so without having to bargain with the team
I would think this sort of offer is made all the time but we don't hear it normally. We do hear the teams telling the drivers "we've been asked to give the place back" suggesting Masi says to them "give it back or I'll send it to the stewards".
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

This long VSC is playing in to the Medium runners' hands, including Max.

they said that hards would do the rest (from 2nd restart) quite comfortably, meds were marginal

You may be absolutely right! Threw me off… But you have a very valid point :)

How many crashes with mr Dirty has Lewis had to avoid now? Despicable. Insane. What did Max expect there? He was nowhere near to own the corner.
Good he cut the corner before Bottas dive bombed into him .. again
Bottas has not once had contact with max this season I believe.
Not directly..

Merc looks to be like 0.5sec faster than Maxes RBR, Max must be trying to conserve as much as he can

I dont see how verstappen can hold hamilton for another half race. Hamilton is brazil like faster on any straight so if he gets drs once or twice its done.
It'll take a mistake by him for Lewis to get close enough in the twisties.
